On October 10, 2013, Macomb County became by far the largest local government in Michigan to join the PACE (Property Assessed Clean Energy) revolution when, in a unanimous, bipartisan vote, the County Commission voted to join Lean & Green Michigan.  The creation of Macomb County's PACE program is the result of a true collaboration between the County Commission under the leadership of Chairman Dave Flynn and Economic Development Committee Chair Rob Mijac and the staff of County Executive Mark Hackel, County Treasurer Ted Wahby, and the Corporation Counsel's office. 

There are countless reasons for commercial businesses, industrial facilities and municipalities to make the switch to LED lighting from more traditional alternatives. Perhaps the most persuasive of reasons is the amount of money that can be saved from upgrading to LED lighting as well as the mounting arguments around the idea that LED lighting is the future. With a wide variety of lighting applications and benefits, solid-state lighting (SSL) represents the next generation of lighting solutions. SSL has been around for over 50 years, and has been present in traffic lights, exit signs, and even flashlights for the past 20 years. Research is showing an increase on uses in both commercial and even home lighting, and with a predicted growth rate of 34% per year through 2016, solid-state lighting will represent 60% of the lighting market by the end of the decade.
